Kate Rosten FCA CTA
Director

Kate is a fellow of the institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales with over 20 years’ accountancy and tax experience.  She trained with a large national firm and enhanced her tax knowledge working for another national accountancy firm for a further two years.

This was followed by five years as the Financial Controller and Company Secretary for an SME business involved in the design and overseas manufacture of clothing.  She was responsible for the accounting function and liaising with financiers, all HMRC and Companies House reporting, Human Resources and other practical issues as they arose.  She left this role following the birth of her son, whereupon she took a short career break and then joined an SME preparing accounts and payroll for veterinary practices before joining the firm in December 2012.

In 2018 she qualified as a chartered tax adviser.

Kate is a governor for the high school where her two children attend, and is also chair of the finance committee.

Catherine Hubbard ATT(Fellow)
Director

Catherine trained with Grant Thornton where she qualified as a Member of the Association of Taxation Technicians.

She later joined Baker Tilly for a short period, before moving on to a local regional firm of accountants where she worked for several years, latterly as their Senior Tax Manager.

Catherine has always specialised in tax and private client work in particular, dealing with a variety of issues from compliance to capital gains tax and IHT planning and overseas issues.

Clare Peck FCCA
Accountant

Clare is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants working in accountancy since 2004. She started her Accountancy career at a regional firm, where she gained experience in a number of areas including payroll, VAT, Audit, Tax and Accounts for a variety of businesses including Agriculture. After qualifying as an accountant in 2009 she moved on to work for a smaller local practice before moving into industry in 2012.

Her industry roles included working for a small group of companies in a finance manager position before moving on to work for a larger group of companies within the finance department. There, she gained more experience working on Agricultural accounts as well as dealing with VAT issues such as importing post Brexit and being involved in the setup of a new accountancy system.

Clare joined Penn and Company in August 2023 to return to practice accounting where she enjoys working for a variety of clients and business types.

Jonathan Penn BA FCA CTA TEP
Director

Jonathan trained with a “big 4” firm in London and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1984, having graduated from the University of Exeter with a degree in Agricultural Economics.  He has specialised in tax throughout his career and qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 1986.  He became a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners in 1994 serving on the first Suffolk and North Essex committee of the Society.

A tax partner for almost 20 years for a large national firm of accountants, he specialised in the taxation of individuals and trusts and estates, advising clients on a wide variety of issues ranging from HMRC enquiries and strategic tax planning through to compliance matters.

Jonathan is a trustee for a local charity providing grants to local Suffolk based charities to support the community.
